Work at A house

Open position – Chief Marketing Officer

A house offers a diversity of destinations that stimulates creative development and innovation – developed with an unmistakable personality rooted in our buildings’ heritage. Being early adapters to flexibility, we’ve taken the idea of coworking and expanded its possibilities as a tool for people to come together. Our destinations are a melting pot of industry-leading businesses, the venues for cutting-edge events and home to some of Stockholm’s most exciting restaurants.

The common denominator for all destinations is the consistent A house focus on creating collaborative cultures, while the destinations’ industry niches are unique for each location. Today, A house is located in two iconic brutalist buildings: one being the former KTH School of Architecture, the other Filmhuset at Gärdet. In the near future, new landmark locations will open in Slakthusområdet, the new Slussen area – which will become a new center of gravity for business and culture in Stockholm – and at least three other destinations.

As A house plans to expand to new locations across Stockholm and other major cities in Sweden – supported by our new strategic partner and co-owner Atrium Ljungberg – we are seeking a Chief Marketing Officer who can build and lead the marketing function.

You will be part of the executive management team, reporting to the CEO. You’ll be working closely with the co-founders, your team and other departments. Your focus will be on scaling and developing the A house brand experience and our destinations, developing and implementing marketing strategies and ensuring the brand’s consistency across all channels, drive revenue growth and lead the Marketing and Sales team to execute on our business plan on a daily basis.

Driving commercial growth through a digital strategy and execution is a core part of this job, which also means overseeing CRM and various tools and platforms to deliver on growth metrics.

As our CMO, you will also develop our offering by staying on top of crucial market trends with a sustainable angle and drive A house’s cultural relevance as an important stakeholder and speaking partner in society and within our communities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a marketing director or a similar role, preferably in an ever-changing or scale-up environment within the creative industries
  • Experience in building inspiring and thought-leading brands, developing and executing on marketing plans, and creating seamless brand experiences in our digital channels
  • Demonstrated success in driving sales, preferably in the B2B space
  • Experience in building and leading marketing teams and sales teams
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data and turn insights into actions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Passion for the effects of community, co-working, collaborative environments, creative fields and social interactions
  • A hands-on approach with a passion for leadership as well as the craft

The ideal candidate would…

  • Think that everything can – and should – be questioned at any time
  • Be energized by collaboration; expecting great output from unexpected input
  • Facilitate a sustainable way of working, where thinking by doing is possible
  • Be guided by an inclusive work environment, where problems can be shared as much as solutions

A house offers a dynamic and creative environment, where you will have the opportunity to grow the marketing and sales function. You will work with a passionate and talented team, and have the chance to make a real impact on the growth and success of A house – both commercially and as a contributor to a better society.

About A house – a refined machine for creative development

A house builds destinations that stimulate creative development and innovation. Together with our members, we cultivate collaborative cultures across our destinations where ideas can grow from first draft to final product, using in-house skills. We look at coworking as just one part in a bigger apparatus, designed with the purpose of encouraging the creation of new ideas.

At every destination, you’ll find an infrastructure set up around social interactions. These take place via our work and event spaces, activity programming and restaurants – all cogs in the machinery that supports and stimulates creative development on a whole. Each destination is customized to suit the particular needs of one or more industries. This includes the tools that are essential to them—whether that is a desk, a large event venue; editing studios or lab kitchens.

A house is what has previously been the missing link between the home office and the head office. Through gathering multiple freelancers, companies and initiatives under one roof, we can utilize space and other resources in new ways and to a greater capacity. By rethinking the idea of the office, we can by extension reimagine and redistribute the use of space in our cities – and, in doing so, reshape the future of how we work and live.

Our story

In 2016, we opened what would become A house Ark – our flagship destination and prototype for how we create a collaborative culture. Ark is niched towards the creative industries but with a particular focus on fashion, food, music and media. They inform the building from the bottom up—from the ground-floor restaurants to in-house resources such as the photo, podcast and music studios, workshop spaces and the lab kitchen. Members include incubators Sting and Stockholm School of Economics’ SSE Business Lab.

Since opening in 2016, A house Ark has grown from occupying only a part of the building to inhabiting it fully and becoming the destination it is today. At Ark, we actively nurture the legacy of the building being the former KTH School of Architecture: a brutalist icon that first opened in 1970 and has many times since been voted the ugliest in Stockholm. Its raw, concrete interior leaves room for creativity, and is the backdrop to our work and event spaces, activity programming and restaurants.

Since the establishment of Ark, A house has continued to grow and evolve. In 2020, we announced our plans to expand to Filmhuset – built in 1971 to become the center of the Swedish film industry. In addition to offering memberships for creatives within the niche, Filmhuset by A house operates a 300 m² event venue, editing studios, a bar and a café—all within another brutalist icon in Stockholm. By 2025, we’ll be located in both Stockholm and Gothenburg at seven different destinations.

We are proud social engineers who believe that the best ideas come from a diversity of perspectives, and that by bringing together a range of creative and talented individuals, we can build a stronger community and drive innovation forward. We are excited to see where this journey takes us and invite you to join us on this exciting adventure.
