Myth becomes fashion
Since we moved into Filmhuset, we’ve been more or less obsessed with Celsing’s eye and the story behind it. The eye is built into Filmhuset’s facade, and the story behind it is said to be that when the building was constructed, the architect Peter Celsing was forbidden to build windows on one short side of the building. The reason? The risk of espionage, as it’s the side that faces the Swedish Armed Forces’ office. Celsing’s solution? A gigantic staring eye in the facade, facing the Swedish Armed Forces’ fenced-in buildings.
The truthfulness of this story hasn’t been confirmed, but when we were developing our own collection for Filmhuset, we couldn’t stay away from it.
The collection is based on Celsing’s eye, reinterpreted by design studio @mimmiandx. Designed and produced at @tidymerch‘s own factory in Tyresö. And of course, it’s organic.
