Meet A house member Klimato

februari 18th 2020

Food and counting go way back. People have been counting calories, carbs and fat. Is 2020 the year we step out of our bodies, counting for the planet instead?

The food at A house this week is carbon calculated by Klimato, the Sting start up convinced that the food industry has to start being more transparent when it comes to the climate impact of food. Check out the daily A house menu to find out the carbon footprint of your lunch.

Hi Klimato, what is it that you do?

Klimato is the application for restaurants looking to offer a climate friendly concept. With Klimato, users can plan climate friendly meals, label dishes with their carbon footprint, retrieve sustainability reports and become climate-neutral by investing in climate positive projects.

What inspires you in your daily work?

What inspires us is the fact that we help about 8000 people every day to understand the climate impact of the food they eat and actually help organizations to reduce their emissions!

Why is A house the place for you?

Because it’s a really inspiring and forward-thinking workplace for entrepreneurs and creatives to come together and share ideas. Also, there’s a bunch of cool things going on all the time that you don’t want to miss out on!

What’s your favorite climate related topic?

Well, not surprisingly it has to be the climate impact of food. What most people don’t know is that 25% of all global CO2 emissions actually stem from the food industry.

What’s your favorite Co2 packed food that is hard to avoid?

Hmm, I would have to say cheese. Vegan cheese pizza is practically impossible to find, and it’s not quite the same thing either.
