Creativity, love of materials, and that Friday feeling in every project

Vendredi Arkitektur consists of Constance and Rebecca – a small but comprehensive office that takes on architecture in all scales. From new construction to interior design details, always with the same curiosity about materials, function, and feeling. We visited their studio at Ark and got to peek at the miniature furniture that built the foundation for their latest project: Haga Norra.

What are you most passionate about – and what can people come to you with?
We work with both exterior and interior architecture – renovations, transformations, and new builds. But we also love creating custom interiors, both fixed and loose. It gives each project its own DNA. So if you want to talk about color, light, materials, and spatial function – whether it’s for a summer cottage or a restaurant – come visit us.

How did you find each other – and why are you called Vendredi?

We worked together for ten years before starting Vendredi three years ago. The name means Friday in French – the day that is relaxed and energetic at the same time. That’s exactly how we want our projects to feel. In addition, Constance has her roots in France, and Rebecca in Skåne – but also with French connections.

Where at Ark is the Friday feeling the strongest?
The lobby, of course!

What does your process look like?
1. Site visit – We read the room and listen to the customer’s needs.
2. Work hard – The creative process takes over and we test, turn and twist ideas.
3. Realize. We produce drawings, material selections and interior design, and project manage the construction phase if needed.

You have just presented your Haga Norra project at A house Ark. Tell us about it.
In the newly built office building next to Hagaparken, we created a restaurant, café, reception, lounge, and atrium – public spaces with character and their own identity. The result was a pleasant environment with a clear DNA, built from recycled and sustainable materials: renovated chairs, reworked stone floors, and fabric scraps that were transformed into acoustic curtains.

You also collaborated with another Ark member – LSI Group?
Yes, we met via A house! LSI manufactured all the custom-designed joinery for Haga Norra. The collaboration went so well that we have continued together in several other projects.

Three tools you can’t live without?
Sketch paper, folding rule, and pen – despite digitization, they are still the foundation of our creative process.

What is A house Ark for you?
Our base! We love the flexibility and energy here. We have our permanent office full of material samples, but we like to move around the house depending on mood and project status.
