Meet Oscar Magnusson, founder of eyewear brand and A House Östermalm member with a soft spot for frames that tell a story.

Every frame Oscar Magnusson designs starts with a story. This year, one of them might be called Monir. We asked the A House Östermalm member about his theme song, his pasta non-negotiables and why a good workplace should be serious, but not too serious.

You’ve said references and stories are what make a design, what’s a completely random object or memory from this year that could end up becoming a frame?

I visited the exhibition of the artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, which is currently showing at the modern museum of art in Stockholm. I found her extremely inspiring as a person and artist and I would not be surprised if you see a “Monir” frame in my collection in the future.

If Oscar Magnusson had a theme song, what would it be?

If you had to be banned from one food for the rest of your life, what would hurt the most?

I think it would be hard for me to live without pasta, olive oil, chili, and tomatoes… and Parmesan cheese… not necessarily all of them in one dish but I do love the ingredients.

If you could instantly become an expert in one completely random thing, what would you pick?

I would find it very cool to be great at composing music.

If you could only eat at one restaurant in Stockholm for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

Old Sturehof… right now, as the new one is not as great I prefer my own kitchen.

What’s the first thing you do when you walk into A House?

Say hello to the wonderful staff:)

If you could only use one argument to get a friend to join A House, what’s your strongest card?

I find the spirit of A-House Ark as a creative community great. It feels like a very friendly environment that fits my view on what a professional workplace needs to be… serious but not too serious…
