Meet Bammies: The members at A House Sickla who are challenging a category that has stood still for far too long.

MEMBER INTERVIEW WITH BAMMIES

Bammies is challenging a category that has stood still for far too long. We had a coffee with founder Filippa, a studio member at A House Sickla Central, to talk about entrepreneurship, life with young children as a driving force, and the desire to rethink the diaper from the ground up.

Hello Filippa! Describe Bammies in one sentence.
– A diaper that does the job, without all the unnecessary extras and with less plastic.

What sparked your idea in the first place?
– As parents, we realized how little had actually happened in such a large category. It felt like people simply accepted how diapers have always been, even though they are used around the clock on the most sensitive thing there is.

What was the first concrete product or insight that made you feel “let’s do this” ?
– When we saw that it was actually possible to make a diaper with bamboo against the skin while also reducing the amount of plastic, without compromising on performance. That’s when we felt this had to get out there. If we can help fewer babies get diaper rash, then we have to do it. My son had a lot of diaper rash, and that’s where the idea for Bammies was born. It became a mission we felt we needed to carry out.

How has your vision evolved since you started—has it stayed the same today?
– The foundation is the same, but the vision has grown. We started with the ambition to make a better diaper, but today we want to help change the entire category and the way people view baby and femcare.

What does sustainability mean to you?
– For us, sustainability is about making genuinely better choices, without compromising on function or experience. It is also about being honest about what we can do today and what we are still working on. We want to be transparent with our customers and their families, and always do our best. The goal is to be the diaper with the least plastic, while also making conscious decisions across the entire company.

You have been at A House Sickla since the beginning—what made you choose this place?
– It felt right straight away. The combination of energy, entrepreneurship, and the fact that things are actually happening around you all the time. I also grew up in Nacka and live in Saltsjöbaden today, so it is both close and convenient.

What makes Sickla a good place for what you are building?
– The proximity to both city life and family life. Many people here are in the same phase—building companies and raising young children—and that creates a fairly unique dynamic. Sickla is also a fantastic area that feels modern and easy to get to and from.

How do you use the area outside the building?
– Walks around Lake Sickla to clear the head, quick meetings over a coffee, and short breaks between calls. Many ideas take shape there. We also enjoy spending time in the Sickla shopping district for pleasant lunches and errands.

What is playing in your office right now?
– A mix of everything, from calm morning music to more upbeat playlists when we need to pick up the pace. Preferably something that makes the day feel a little less like work.

Do you have any rituals that are “typically Bammies”?
– We test everything ourselves. Always. And we are constantly talking to our customers; that is probably our most important ritual. We want to know every family that purchases our diapers.

What would you like other members at A House to come and talk to you about?
– Anything around DTC, retail, brand building, and how you actually make things happen at an early stage. Or just stop by and say hello. We are always open to new meetings.
