The snack is dead – long live summer beer!

Did you know that one of Stockholm’s most creative breweries is bubbling – literally – down in the basement of A house Ark? We sat down on Omaka’s outdoor terrace to talk summer beers, unexpected brewing spices, and why the middle course is dead – with Andreaz Nórén.

Summer is finally here – what does that mean for you at Omaka?
– Outdoor seating, summery beers, drinks and a summery food menu! Don’t miss our crane emptying on July 5th before we take a little summer break.

Your favorite beer to…

…drink on your outdoor terrace this summer?

– An obvious choice is our session-ipa Suntrip, preferably ordered in our Suntripbar!

…take to the sauna?

– No sauna bath without a nice cold and light lager, and then we choose Betong, a real beer bear!

…drink with your barbecue?

– Amalfi, an ipa with lemon and a touch of bourbon vanilla! Goes with everything from grilled meats to halloumi, especially on an extra hot summer day.

What is the talk of the town at Omaka right now?

– Our new menu! The snack is dead and we drink to that. Now we have a simpler, but just as good menu that is suitable both for sitting for a long time and if you just want to drink two beers and eat a nice raw steak.

What is played on your loudspeakers during an evening?

– Great music to set the mood and Friday and Saturday from 8pm one of our fantastic DJs plays until the party is over.

– What’s on the menu besides great craft beer?

– Fine wines, summery cocktails and fantastic seasonal food.

What are the most unusual spices you have tried to brew with?

– That question was left to our brewers and the answer was a selection: Curry, banana and seaweed are probably among the strangest things brewed here!

At lunch, in the afternoon sun, at dinner or at dusk – when in summer does beer taste best?

– That’s the best thing about us, we have a beer for everything! Start with a Mamma, a light lager, for dinner. Sit in the sun with a Suntrip, for dinner we’ll have a heavier double IPA in the form of D1 and we’ll finish at dusk with a decadent and dark stout called Espresso.
